2015 - Time to Expand and Rebuild the Grow Beds

After two seasons of learning from our initial mistakes we have reached a point where we want to take advantage of our experiences.  We will be 1) Rebuilding the Grow Beds moving to a smaller number of larger beds and 2) Adding more grow beds that will nearly double the growing space.

Things that will be changing:

1. The Grow bed Media will change from Pea Stone to Expanded Shale.  The Shale has a couple of benefits over the Pea Stone (but it does cost more)
• Lighter
• pH Neutral
• More nooks and crannies to hold the good stuff
2. Re-Design the Bell Siphons
• Larger Stone guards
• Change to a Torcellini style design siphon
3. Add some protection for the Fish.  We had a Blue Heron steal a couple last season.
