Green House Construction

As stated in the home page, we purchased a Janssens green house due to its high quality and glass panels.  We did not want polycarbonate as it would be prone to scratching and yellowing over time.  The model that we chose was the 8' X 12' Jr Vic (Model#  J-VIC 24).  If you search around the internet you can find special deals that include free shipping.

The unit was shipped directly to our house in a very nice crate, the instructions were downloaded from the internet.  The greenhouse was fairly straight forward to assemble (with two people) with some very simple tools but I would warn you that some technical experience would certainly be a prerequisite to taking on this assembly.

The foundation was constructed and allowed to settle prior to beginning the assembly of the green house.  it is made up of 6 x 6 pressure treated landscape ties and back filled with pea stone gravel.
The frame is made from extruded aluminum channels that are all pre-cut and labeled.  These bolt together very quickly and in our case, the frame was assembled and ready for the glass panels within three days.
The cloth sheet is just hanging over the frame of the chain link fence as a way to deter our dogs from escaping the pool area.  It is not part of the green house.
Here is the green house fully assembled with the glass (and a couple of grow-beds).
